Santa, Mickey Mouse and lots of tears

This weekend was a long crazy one! Back in September we bought tickets to see Playhouse Disney live in Atlanta. We bought 4 and decided that we would take Abbie and Madeline to see it since Abbie LOVES Mickey and Madeline is obsessed with Darby (from the new Pooh show). So on Friday Jennifer and Tony came and brought Madeline. It all started out so fun, with the girls playing together and they seemed so happy. So we decided to take them to see Santa on Saturday...

Well, that didn't go so well...
I think that this set the tone for the rest of the weekend! Madeline has such severe separation anxiety that every time Jennifer would walk away she would go into hysterics. She loves being with Pop and Nana and Abbie but only if Jenn was there. So needless to say when we tried to take her without Jennifer to see the show she lost her mind. Unfortunately, we could not take her to the show, but we still went and took Abbie. We were wondering if she was just too young to understand what was going on but when her eyes lit up when Mickey came onto the stage we realized that she got it! She was so excited, she clapped and laughed and danced and eventually just wore herself out! Just as Handy Manny was coming onto the stage I noticed that she was not doing too much moving in my lap anymore. I looked down and she was zonked out! So at intermission we just left. So even though we didn't get to take Madeline and Abbie fell asleep, it was still worth every penny paid for the tickets to see her eyes light up like christmas when she saw Mickey outside of her tv!

Lesson learned: Wait until the kids are at least 3 or 4 to take them to a live show...and don't expect your kid to enjoy sitting on the lap of a stranger dressed all in red...

Chatter Box

One of the fun things about having a 1 year old, if you can get past the monster temper tantrums and the constant pushing of your buttons, is watching her learn so much! In the past month alone she has constantly amazed me! She has learned to point out a persons nose when asked, she politely says thank you and at the proper times, you can tell her you sure look pretty today and she will say thank you or if you give her a handful of cheerios she will thank you after every cheerio. She is learning to blow kisses, although sometimes she just keeps them for herself, and she loves to hold your hand and walk at the store instead of riding in the cart. But mostly all the words she is learning amazes me daily. So I thought I would make a Websters Abbie Dictionary.

Meer - Come here
Na-Na - No No
Heego - Here you go
BeeOh - ??
Manana-na-na-na-na - Banana
pa-pa (said in a whisper every time) Papa Burder
daddy wo? - Daddy Work?
Bah (spoken like a true southern girl) - Bye
yayoo - Love you
huh? (usually followed after we tell her no)
Baba - Bottle
een - Ian (I think)

Now follow all those up with a bunch of other sounds and words that we have not figured out yet and this is what she does all day long.
I have a feeling that after spending 10 days with cousin Ian, she will come home knowing a lot more words! Stay tuned!

Well, this is my first blog ever...I'm still a little unsure about it, but we will see. I will try my best to keep up with it and hopefully get all my stay at home mommy talking out on everybody here instead of my hubby every night (that poor man)

I guess I'll start with a funny story. More funny uh-oh than funny ha ha. Last night Abbie decided to climb on Daddy while he was watching football. Luckily I was armed with my camera to catch the fun

I think we can all see where this is going...nothing makes your kid more ready for bed then a tumble huh? haha
